Ok, we're almost a year on the way and I have some concerns:
We're now almost 80 members big... we will loose some members due to the cleanup, but we're still really growing big.
Past week I was consulted about 2 potential roots for drama (*read below), 2 different cases. We did totally fantastic this past year. Almost drama free and, although summer was very quiet, basically we're a happy bunch.
We grow big and that means we don't know all members anymore. Trouble with that is we loose track of how our members interact. Some may feel left out.. feel unseen.. feel uncomfortable.
The moment we really feel this is when trouble's rising.
We have NO selection at the porch. That is all I ever wanted for diversity is great in a group. Now that we grow I understand our first priority should be with members that are allready in.
By letting all in... we might invite enemys from former clans people were in before joining us. Since we have no rules concerning joining, we can't manage the process in case it turns sour.
Ideas (I need feedback on this!):
- Maybe we should set a maximum number of members, 60 always was my ideal, but I could live with 70.. and would settle for 80, but I grow real nervous if numbers grow larger
- This could mean E2A is full at the moment, so a member-stop
- Maybe we do need time to get to know a new member. Time in which existing members can see if they get along. And a voting afterwards. That way we can try protect our members from stress in group.
Last, but as ever NOT least...
does any one have PARTY ideas?
for we really have something to celebrate!!!
- GSO sugested a March, and I like that plan...
- Skillweek should be: 'Train your favorite', I'll design a key to compare achievements using the Hall of Eternal Fame, so we will have two winners as usual.
but I need MOOORE ideas, lol
The 2 potential drama cases I had this week were:
1 member thought about not prolonging membership after another member snapped a jeallous remark. They know eachother from a former clan they both were in.
we talked a bit and this member will stay
1 member mailed me:
Several days ago I logged into the clan chat to say "Hi". As usual there was a great deal of conversation going on. Filemate40 said hello to me and then announced I had an "interesting past". I had no idea what she was talking about and said so. She then asked Aok to tell me what she meant. Aok congratulated me on earning 230 quest points but then said I need to complete Recipe for Disaster and Catapult Construction. Then several people typed "lol".
Now perhaps it was meant as constructive criticism or advice. However the manner in which it was presented in a group setting was wrong. All it proved to accomplish was to embarrass and humiliate me in front of the other clan members. Aok then proceeded to address Twilitezone in much the same manner, though in my opinion belittling him even more.
My point is this; if Aok truly wanted to offer advice or some sort of help, it should have been done privately not in a group setting. Aok and I have never been terribly friendly towards each other and have for the most part simply ignored each other, but until now our relationship hasn't been adversarial.
You and I both have been involved in clans that have fractured and split because bickering and conflicting personalities. I'm much to fond of this group to ever let this happen to E2A. I honestly hope I am not over reacting, however if Aok chooses to gossip about clan members as a means of entertainment, I will speak my mind publicly and force the issue. As a clan manager he should be setting the example to the clan and not causing derision with in it.
Anyway, now that I've gotten that off of my chest, I think I can deal with Aok on better terms now.
ok I answered:
thinx for trusting me with this.. and I will investigate.
Aok and I never grew close either but there might be a simple explanation for the events
Aok recently found the beta version of the Adventurers Log
there you can find info on the proceedings of a person in game
quests, rare drops, kills... all kinds of stuff
File might have used a more suggestive frase than she meant.
Aok might have just wat to show off the possibility's of his find
(post = even2all.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=communitychat&action=display&thread=492)
that might be why File said you should talk with Aok...and he just wanted to show off.
