Sorry, Funtail, I can't resist sharing this ;D:
This is an excellent guide that Da_Dragon555 wrote in my WAI-HD thread(on another board of course :. I've added it here so you guys can enjoy and maybe learn from it was well(wouldn't it be nice to have a new WAI-HD pic every couple of days? ;D) I've edited it slightly because of the differences in the codes between that board and this one .
By the way Da_Dragon555 is a WAI-HD expert(he is the reason for rule 3... he's just too good at this ). When I give out hints I have to be sneaky and give them in riddles because Da_Dragon55 usually sees through the hints very easily. Unfortunately for me Jagex may reopen RSC and he may become the WAIC(Where Am I Classic) expert as well ...o well. Hope you found this guide helpful and enlightening!

To Know Where You Are
By Da_Dragon555
I like knowing things, I like discovering things.
This is why I have a passion for and receive enjoyment from topics such as Where Am I? HD
Well, I was asked the other day "How do you know what they are so often?"
I simply said, "Each picture has it's own set of clues"
They asked me to elaborate (or if they didn't, I wanted to).
So, I thought, why not. I'm going to give you all some tips 'n hints to make you all better WAI'ers, much to Axi's chagrin.
I will go over two different photos, previously used by Aximili.
The First is a more recent one, and the Image below I actually sent to Ax (as I couldn't guess on it) to point out some things to him, on a lark.
The Second one I shall share with you is one that he did back in October, one that I will say gave me the hardest time of all the pictures, ...well, pictured here.
Picture Ze First:
As you can see, I have circled quite a bit. This one is one of the easier ones I have come on, and I have those Circles to thank.
Well, no the Circles, but whats in them. I'll start out with the less obvious clues, ones that will not *instantly* point out that area, but simply narrow one's search.
First off, we have Texture. Look down. No, seriously, Look down. What do you see? A floor. Yep, that's right, the floor. The floor is something that rarely, if ever, changes on you. It's not like the rug is pulled from beneath your feet... Well, at that, let's go to the next thing, the Rug. That sssoooofffttt, fllllluufffffy rug. Where have you seen that one before? Well, Here of Course!! But beside that, where? Now, If I Recall Correctly ('cause as you know, I k-never k-no if I have recalled correctly...), that rug is only used in, shall we say, "run down" areas. Not too many of those, is there now, eh?
[/break] So, you've gotten two of the many, I'll point out a few more. Now, I shall cover objects in the room. First, let us compare the table to the corner. On one hand, we have upon the table a (fairly) nice Table-cloth, and a fancy gold Goblet or Candlestick, while in the corner, we have a forlorn Barrel, some Sacks of hay, a few Cobwebs, and what we must assume is sawdust or hay... Where would such a difference in situations be? I can name two. But one doesn't count, now does it? On the longer view...(oh dear, not the *BAD* puns)...Ok, I jest...but if you look in the far back (top) of the picture, you can see a sliver. A sliver of what, you might ask? Well, I'll tell you! What it is, if you look closely enough, it is another room, or hallway. This means that the Brown Door in the back doesn't just lead outside, it leads somewhere, which means you can eliminate all one-room buildings, and yes, there are a lot of them.
And now, on to the clues I refer to as "Obvious". Clues that I feel, well, give it away. There are Five of them, which is why it was fairly easy.
1) The Candle Sticks
There is, to my knowledge, only one place that has these Candlesticks.
2) The Painting / Picture
Only about 4-5 places that this particular picture exist. watch out for them...the Eyes follow you...
3) The Wardrobe
There about only 3 places this style of wardrobe is used.
4) Finally - The Door
If you look to your right, (in the picture this time), you will see a second door. It's a little harder but, if you look closely, it is a distinct color of Red.
This is the Give-away. There only ONE, and I mean only ONE place that there is a Door of this style that is RED. ONLY ONE. This combined with the Rat gives this away like they're going out of business.
Have you figured out where we are?
No?
Yes?
OK, well, it is the
Ground-Floor Main Room of Melzar's Maze in western Asgarnia, prominently featured in the Dragon Slayer Quest.
Understand how this works now?
'Cause I'm going to go over one more,
This one was done much longer ago, and was one of the most challenging ones I have ever encountered. This of which, Axi sure is proud.
La Picture Deux
As I said, this one is a challenging Picture. I say that not because it is in some obscure location that no-one ever visits, because then it would be easier to remember When one has done WAI-HD for a while now, you start to memorize obscure locations, knowing that each and every one of then is prime game for the WAI-HD Editor to use.
No. This one is in a spot that nearly everyone has been to at least once, and possibly multiple times, due to the fact that there is a continuing reward that can be accessed by coming [near] here. Now who 's going to memorize that, huh? No-One! But regardless, I shall go over the various clues and assumptiong that can be made from those various clues.
First off, let us start off with the relative location of this Room.
As evidenced by the "Black-space" surrounding the room, as well as the Brown outline, we can verifiably say that this room is Underground. More than that, as seen by the supports near the top of the picture and on the right side, this room is under another structure (this point actually widens the search area, instead of narrowing it...) These two factors also limit our ability to find something, as we are not able to use the World Map, and as there are few Maps detailing underground areas, we encounter a slight (but certainly not major) obstacle.
So...
1. Underground
2. Beneath another structure
Then, we have another piece of Major evidence. The Picture.
As you can see. there are two pictures (Portraits) in the room, one on the forward wall, and one on the right-hand one. If you look closely enough, you may see that they are in-fact the same picture, so do not fret as I will only point out what one Portrait signifies, and not go on about a second. The Image shown is that of a King. The portrait looks somewhat like the visage of King Roald the Third, but of course, we know that this picture exists outside of Misthalin as well. But! instead of narrowing it down to just Misthalin, it does narrow it down by the fact that it is a Human habitation, and not another humanoid, such as a Gnome or an Dwarf.
So...
1. Underground
2. Beneath another structure
3. Human Habitation
Now, there is one thing I doubt you have noticed. It is a very small thing, but give a lot of information about the location. It is the shape of the room. On the left-hand side of the picture, you will notice a set of drawers. Next to that, barely noticeable, is an Edge. The edge of a wall! In addition to that, there is another set of drawers there, which will in the end, narrow down the list of options (trust me, it does). At the very least, we can conclude that the Room is somewhat of an L shape, at least.
So...
1. Underground
2. Beneath another structure
3. Human Habitation
4. L-shaped Room
Now, let us examine the various other objects in the Room. Most prominent in the room would be the Four-poster bed. Other lesser items include the four Chairs in the middle of the Room, the two fancy sets of Drawers, and an seemingly unspecified item in the lower right-hand corner.
So, looking at the Bed and Drawers, we can conclude that this person is fairly affluent, or holds some sort of power or prestiege. This is unusual, and conflicts with our normal thoughts of Class differences. One would think that a person of High Power would not live underground, except perhaps in the case of the Dwarves. So this is odd for us, and is quite confusing. Where the HELL in Gielinor could this place be?
But besides this confusion, we must focus on the other Objects in the Room, namely the chairs and the "unspecified object". Now, the chairs will not narrow it down at all, as those are a common enough design for a chair that it doesn't help us in that regard. But!, one thing that the chairs do provide for us is that it is a Fingerprint Collection. There are four chairs, all arranged in a particular pattern. As I said, it won't help you narrow your search, but once you have found the place, you will know that it is the one, as the four chairs are there. This would identify it even if there were multiple places in which the Bed and Drawers are at (of course, there are no others that I know of).
And Lastly, I shall identify the final object. As you can see, (if you look very very closely, that is) you will see that the object is slightly two-toned, suggesting a shape and depth. It is about as "wide" as a character's "arm." Now, is may be difficult to identify from this angle, but from the observer factors, we can conclude that this is a Mirror. Mirrors are seen in many places around Gielinor. One place you can see one, to get the general idea of it's shape, is upstairs in the Hair Dresser's in Falador.
So...Now we can Conclude:
1. Underground
2. Beneath another structure
3. Human Habitation
4. L-shaped Room
5. Person of fairly significant Power or Prestige
6. Still Occupied
So, with these small clues, would you be able to Find it? No, possibly not.
But you certainly could narrow it down by quite a bit.
Well, That about wraps it up.
What?
You say I didn't tell you where it is?
Uh huh...
Uh huh...
Uh hmmm...
Well, I actually did. But why don't you see if you can find it?
Without cheating, of course.
Cheating is bad.
Have Fun All!
I Hope this Helps!!
