1 cup chopped onions 1/4 cup butter or margarine 3 cans Crushed Tomatoes 2 Tbsp. Tomato Paste 1 Tbsp, Sugar 1 tsb. salt 1 tsb dried basil 1/2 tsp. dried thyme 1/2 tsp pepper. 1/4 cup flour 4 cups chicken broth, divided 1 cup whipping cream.
In 3 quart saucepan, over medium heat, saute onion in butter until tender. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, basil, thyme and pepper. simmer for 10 mins, stirring occasionally. Combine flour and 3/4 cup broth, form a smooth paste. Add to tomato mixture and add remeaining broth. Bring to boil, boil for 2 mins stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in cream, serve immediately. You can use fresh tomatoes in this soup but you have to peeled, seeded and chop them. Then if you add fresh tomatoes, cook for 30 minutes till tender before adding cream.
